What MX records are and why to check them

MX (Mail Exchange) records in DNS define which servers accept mail for a domain. If a recipient’s domain has no MX records, delivery is impossible — you can safely remove such addresses from your list before sending, saving quota and protecting your bounce statistics.

The tool queries the domain’s MX records via DNS and shows the servers with their priorities. A lower number means higher priority: mail is routed to the server with the smallest value first.

How to read the result

  • No MX records — addresses on that domain are undeliverable;
  • MX points to Google or Microsoft — corporate mail with stricter filtering;
  • A single MX with no backup — mail can be lost during outages.
